These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern the removals, storage, and related services provided by Sterling Movers Ltd ("we", "us", "our", "the Company") to any customer ("you", "your", "the Customer"). By booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Definitions
- "Booking" means a confirmed agreement between you and us for the provision of removal, packing, storage, or related services.
- "Goods" means all items, furniture, and possessions to be moved or stored as part of the service.
- "Quote" means the price provided to you for the services requested, based on the information you supply.
- "Moving Day" means the agreed date(s) on which the service is carried out.
2. Quotes and Bookings
2.1 Quotes are based on the information provided by you, including property size, access, inventory, and distance. We reserve the right to amend the quote if the actual scope of work differs materially from what was described (for example, additional items, restricted access, or extra floors not disclosed at the time of quoting).
2.2 A booking is only confirmed once a deposit (where applicable) has been received and confirmation has been issued in writing (including by email).
2.3 Quotes are valid for 7 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
3. Cancellations and Changes
3.1 Cancellations must be made in writing. The following cancellation charges may apply:
- More than 7 days before Moving Day: no charge, deposit refunded
3.2 We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel a booking due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (see Section 9, Force Majeure), in which case we will offer the earliest available alternative date.
3.3 Any changes to the scope of the move (additional items, change of address, change of date) must be communicated as early as possible and may result in a revised quote.
4. Access and Parking
4.1 You are responsible for ensuring reasonable access to both the collection and delivery addresses, including parking suspensions or permits where required.
4.2 Where parking restrictions, permit requirements, or access issues (e.g. narrow streets, lift breakdowns, restricted loading times) result in delays or additional costs, these may be passed on to you.
4.3 If our crew is unable to gain reasonable access through no fault of our own, we reserve the right to charge a failed collection/delivery fee.
5. Customer Responsibilities
5.1 You must ensure all Goods are ready for collection at the agreed time unless we have been contracted to pack on your behalf.
5.2 You must disclose any items of high value (antiques, art, jewellery, etc.) prior to Moving Day so appropriate handling and insurance arrangements can be made.
5.3 You must not include any of the following in the Goods to be moved:
- Flammable, explosive, or hazardous materials
- Perishable food items
- Live animals or plants (unless separately agreed)
- Illegal items or substances
- Cash, important documents, or irreplaceable items of extremely high sentimental value (we recommend transporting these yourself)
6. Liability and Insurance
6.1 We take all reasonable care when handling your Goods. However, our liability for loss or damage is limited as follows, unless otherwise agreed in writing:
[Insert your actual liability terms here — e.g. standard industry cover per item/weight, or full replacement value if you offer enhanced insurance]
6.2 We recommend customers with high-value items consider additional insurance cover. [If you offer this as an add-on, describe it here.]
6.3 We are not liable for damage to items that were not properly packed by us (where self-packed), pre-existing damage, or damage to items packed in boxes not opened for inspection prior to the move (e.g. flat-pack furniture not disassembled by us).
6.4 Any claim for loss or damage must be made in writing within 7 days of the completion of the move.
7. Payment Terms
7.2 We accept payment by [insert accepted methods — bank transfer, card, etc.].
7.3 Late payment may result in the delay of your move or the release of your Goods (in the case of storage), and may incur additional charges.
8. Storage (where applicable)
8.2 Storage charges are billed weekly/monthly and must be paid in advance.
8.3 We reserve the right to charge additional fees for storage periods exceeding the originally agreed term.
9. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, traffic accidents, vehicle breakdown, industrial action, or other events outside our control.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us at booking@sterlingmovers.co.uk within [insert, e.g. 14 days] of your move so we can investigate and respond appropriately.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
